A 1999 end of the year photo was taken after the holiday lunch at St. Anthony Main. Due to the many talents of our small staff - it is extremely rare to gather them all in one spot at the same time. Please accept all "our" best for the upcoming year
As the World Premiere of "Rock and Roll Girl!" fast approaches (January 28, 2000; First Avenue nightclub, downtown Mpls. AND January 29th cablecast premiere on MTN - see above noted web site) - we can look back with pride at producer Maureen O'Brien's work and gain some wisdom from her hard earned lessons in production. She suggests (1) working from a script, however abreviated -or whether you deviate from it much, (2) regular production meetings with the crew, (3) having multiple - alternate plan B's, (4) find out individual motivations for cast & crew to make sure they get what they need out of their involvement, and (5) you must have food - good food - because production work is hard and you want to reward your people for their efforts. Watch for the entire series throughout the winter on MTN.

One of the constant challenges we face at MTN is information management. Basically, what that means is keeping track of :

All of this has taken years of work and much trial and error in an attempt to devise a functional and fair system. This system expanded in 1991 when we began to give out bar-coded membership cards. We also began to track produceršs use of equipment and attempt to cross reference that with programs submitted. We are continuing with these tracking methods for the following reasons:

Membership at MTN remains at $40.00 per year. If we have not heard from you for three years we will delete your record and you will need to renew ALL certifications along with your membership when you re enter the system. Make it a priority in your life to support MTN EVERY year by paying your $40.00 membership fee.
If you have further questions about our tracking system at MTN please feel free to ask me or any staff member. In the long run this system works for you by keeping things as fair as possible.

Brian.jpg In January 2000, Brian Brady will complete his second term in office and MTN will lose one of our longest serving and most active board members. Brian has played a key role in many of our most difficult moments ; overseeing MTNšs move from the Lehman Center to St. Anthony Main and the construction that followed, purchasing and driving our production truck home from Chicago, sitting in on countless meetings involving MTN, Paragon and the City, producing and volunteering on innumerable public access productions and serving as chair of our equipment committee for many years. On behalf of MTN - we all wish Brian the best of luck and extend our many thanks for his ELEVEN years of dedicated service to the Minneapolis Telecommunications Network. Roch.jpg

Rochelle photo caption : In January 2000, Rochelle Barnhart completes four years on the MTN Board. Rochelle will not be reapplying to the board due to conflict of interest issues with her new job at the State of Minnesota. Rochelle has been a hard working board member serving on the Internet, Finance and Executive committees. We will all miss her valuable input and insight as we struggle with the many obstacles facing public access. Thank you, Rochelle.
