ANNOUNCEMENT OF BOARD POSITION OPENING
Minneapolis Telecommunications Network (MTN)

     Purpose: Minneapolis Telecommunications Network (MTN) is a Public Non-Profit Corporation (PNC). The Articles of Incorporation authorize the corporation: (1) to promote the use of cable communication systems for community and public access in the City of Minneapolis; (2) to address the information and cultural needs of residents, businesses, non-profit organizations, and governmental bodies; (3) to regulate, control and manage dedicated public channels; and (4) to make recommendations on other franchise issues.

     Membership: The MTN is comprised of nine members (+ 3 - ex-officio), five appointed by the City Council, 3 Mayoral Appointments, and one joint Council President and Mayor, each serving four year terms. Directors shall be individuals who live, work or are engaged in business within the City of Minneapolis. The Articles of Incorporation contain a conflict of interest statement which prohibits directors from having a financial interest in any entity engaged in, or doing business with, cable television in Minnesota.

Completed applications are returned to either address listed above. Recommendations are forwarded to the Ways and Means/Budget Committee for consideration and then to the full Council for final confirmation.

     Information: Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month. Members also participate in monthly committee activities.      Vacancies: One position is currently vacant to be appointed by the City Council. Persons may apply on their own behalf or nominate another person. Applications must be received no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, June 11, 1999. No late applications will be accepted.
