The MTN Spring Bash, Memory and Friends...continued
place and Shadya, the Belly dancer, was our guide on the trip. Right after Yanaris & Friends, Interstate Judy took the stage with their alternative rock and roll sound. This all women band had a powerful sound and energy that was felt all over downtown. The New Grass Heads were the third band for the evening. It was such a transformation to go from the powerful rock and roll sounds of Interstate Judy to the psychedelic folk sounds of The New Grass Heads. The variety of music did not stop there. "The hardest working local band," The Straw Dogs, took the stage after The NewGrass Heads and they had the place going with their "Hot Five, Hot Seven Sound". The evening reached a climax with The Sensational Joint Chiefs and their special brand of music. Part funk, part gospel and just plain wonderful, The Sensational Joint Chiefs had everyone dancing in the club and out on the street.
It was a great lineup of local talent. A lineup that got together especially for this Bash and for MTN. The Bash is a way to introduce MTN and its community television and internet programs to the public in an entertaining way. It is also another way that MTN can contribute to the rich local music scene by cablecasting the event live on MTN channels and also on Metro Channel 6. This way the whole Metro area can join in the fun and discover what MTN can offer while enjoying some of the best music in town.
Producing the MTN Bash was one of the most exciting adventures I had in television production. The thing I liked the most was working with all the volunteers from MTN staff and access users to make this Bash a success. While my career is taking me away for a while from the access world and MTN, I hope that the Bash keeps going and keeps getting more and more popular. The Bash, MTN and all the great friends will always be with me no matter where my career takes me. I'd like to take this chance to encourage everyone to get involved in the next Bash and to become involved with access. I'd also like to take this chance to say good bye to all the wonderful people I've met here in access land. Some of these friendships are a treasure that is kept in my heart. Thank you MTN and good bye.
The staff of MTN would like to thank Mustafa for all of the many contributions he has brought to our organization. Particularly his strong leadership in producing the MTN Bash's and his wise spirit and positive energy in working with youth. We wish him all good things as he returns to
his homeland of Jordan to produce for the Arabic Radio/Television Satellite Network. Mustafa's presence will be truly missed.
