On a hot September day in 1990 we loaded trucks with desks, edit suites and everything else and journeyed from South Minneapolis to the banks of the Mississippi River. MTN had left its lead laden home in the Lehman Center and moved into recently abandoned retail space in an MCDA owned building known as St. Anthony Main. We signed a 15-year lease and put out the word to our community producers that we had moved; they soon joined us.
Over the years we have watched this area change with new condominiums and coffee shops sprouting up around us. Sadly these changes mean that our community television station will have to leave. We have been informed by our current landlord that he will not renew our lease upon its expiration in February 2005. It is with heavy hearts and hope that we prepare once again to find a new home.
As painful as it will be to leave our riverfront space, we hold on to our dreams of what a new facility might offer all of

us. Perhaps a building that we can own, perhaps one where our playback facility is part of our main operation, certainly a space that is accessible to all our members.
The MTN Board of Directors has begun a "needs assessment process" for our future facility. This will involve working with an architect to design a space plan for whatever future home we find. We also will be speaking with the official Members of MTN as defined by our bylaws, the Mayor and City Council of Minneapolis. Certainly finding a successful solution to this challenge will involve all of the stakeholders of MTN.
I want to thank those of you who have approached me about what you can do to help MTN. I will be providing regular updates about our progress in finding a new home in our newletter, The MTN Monitor. We will let you know what we need as we identify it and we thank you in advance for your patience and support.
