MTN's Member's Screening has become a highly anticipated and popular regular gathering for members of the MTN family. The Member's Screening is a bi-monthly event held in MTN's Studio A on the second Friday of every other month.  At the event, members show their their own creations and view other producer's projects.

The next Member's Screening will be on Friday, May 13th at 7 p.m. Everybody is welcome to attend and bring something to play, but there is a 10 minute maximum on clips.

The March Member's Screening was attended by over 20 people. After each clip is screened, there is a short question and answer period. The comments from co-producers, friends, staff, and others give valuable feedback to the media makers.

Some people come to see what they cannot see at home because they do not subscribe to cable television, while others want to take advantage of the friendly, empathetic audience.  Eleven producers showed clips at the March Screening. Here's a recap of what they presented.

Mark Bispala showed an excerpt from his act of civic engagement. He taped himself reading the U.S. Constitution (with all the amendments) out loud. Andi Johnson showed her nephew & nieces playing music together over the winter holidays.

Philip Farmer has repackaged some spoofs and a fashion show, and presented these. Johnny Barker, choir
conductor and organist, showed off his new improved Final Cut Pro titles and the beginning of his church's 8th Annual Black History event. Wayne Glanton presented the premiere of his local documentary on "Steel Art," public sculptures that he and his grandson have located about town.

Molly Getty is getting close to finishing her film degree at MCTC. She shared a rough cut of her final project. It is a self-penned short about a prison inmate and his wrangling with a federal agency and the media over cattle grazing rights. Her film is accented by some very cool stylized lighting. Trevor Adams presented his latest filmic creation. He shoots 16mm film and then re-processes it with bleach and dye.  He adds additional layers to his images when he projects them for the video camera. The effect is quite poetic and rich. Laura Stopyro showed her video satire on a motley party peopled with caricatures of art critics run amuck.

Hamil Griffin-Cassidy was doing double duty on Screening Night. He presented a new music video he made to Keith Porter's recording of "Parents Teach Your Children to Pray." He also documented the whole evening's screening event in-camera. He is making a new program called "Full Auto." He edits his shows directly in the camera. The pictures on this page are from his "Full Auto" show about the screening night.

The evening continued when M.C.  John Akre showed a short clip of his advocacy series "On Transit" followed by Beth Peloff's work-in-progress on genealogy and her grandmother.  All in all, it was quite an array of topics, producers, and projects.
