Video Voices Documentaries 2008 show 3

MTN has been a partner with Minneapolis South High since 1987 in the Voices program. Voices is a social studies class at South, but a vital part of that class is the partnership with MTN. MTN trains students in the Voices class in camera and editing, and the students make documentaries and PSA's on important social issues.

VOICES stands for Values, Options, Issues and ChoicEs in Society.

Here are this year's student produced documentary projects. Show 3 includes documentaries on homelessness.

Show 3 Segment 1- Homelessness

South High students Cassie Heckler, Taquoia Hammick, Lionel San Jose, Pahoua Xiong, Melat Mekkonen and Casey McMullen interviewed homeless people, people who work with them, and members of the general populace to create this picture of the problem of homelessness in the Twin Cities. They made the video with the help of the Minneapolis Television Network (MTN) as part of the Voices program.

Show 3 Segment 2 - Heading Home Hennepin

South High students Shira Blilinkoff, Matt Carter, Chris Lauth, Sam Quincy, Ellen Thoennes-Keller, and Rosa Thompson-Vieira investigated the Hennepin County anti-homelessness program and also visited community organizations who work with the homeless. They made this video with the assistance of the Minneapolis Television Network (MTN) as part of the Voices program.
