Huber called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.
I. Opening Business
A. Comments from public, staff and board
Welcome to Barb Nei, new board member. Introduction of board and staff.
B. Approval of the agenda. MSP Child, Jenkins.
C. Approval of Minutes from the January board meeting. MSP Vose, Jenkins.
II. Reports
A. City of Minneapolis John Harrison presented
Colby met with John Harrison and Sara Dietrich to go over MTN presentation to Ways and Means committee about business plan. They will meet next week to talk about performance agreement. Comcast subscriber numbers are 75,541 for January and 75,937 for February.
B. Minneapolis Public Schools Edie French presented
The Minneapolis Public Schools recently initiated a Granicus video on-demand system. It will allow teachers to access to material for classes.
C. Comcast Lance Leupold presented
We?re coming up on our Comcast Cares event where employees spend a Saturday volunteering. We have nominees for Cable's Leaders in Learning Award. Geneva Dorsey at Longfellow School was a local nominee.
D. Executive Director's Report. Pam Colby presented
MTN hired consultant Graham Lampa to upgrade our website to 2.0. He will be putting it together next week during his spring break.
There will be another Long Range Planning Commission meeting March 25. Today staff met with Long Range Planning Consultant Tom Borrup.
The latest Access to Art episode was hosted at the Central Library.
John Akre taped the Neighborhood Sustainability conference and uploaded it to our website
Vera Allen had her baby and we had a lunch for her today. During the maternity leave, David Paul covered for Vera and Todd Wardrope covered for David.
Huber and Colby will be at the Ways and Means Committee on Monday.
Ralph Jenson (who designed our original website), now has a company called Swarmcast which is looking for content to test a new player they've created. They'd like to stream video from our website. Some concern was expressed by board members about use of MTN copyrighted materials by a for-profit corporation, and the Executive Director was asked to share any proposed agreements with the MTN board.
There was a live television show put on by Somali producers on HIV.
MTN taped the mayor's state of the city speech in partnership with City Cable.
E. Treasurer's Report. Hedden presented.
January P & L was handed out. We had $2600 in net income. Some earned revenues are low but that is normal for January.
